Susan Baker

Research Question:

Given the consequences of a meat-based diet, how could we use psychology to inform how we might combat western society’s fear of bugs and integrate them into our diet?

Thesis Statement:

A different approach must be taken in the raising of our children and their view of insects if western society is to be able to implement insects into their diet.

Action Project Description:

When I began this project, I knew that I wanted to begin a conversation in the Durango community about the possibility of insects becoming normalized in our diet, at the very least. I also wanted to appeal to an already existing community of people who eat insects or are interested in doing so. To reach that community, I designed a website showcasing recipes that are both easy to integrate insect ingredients into and stomach. To reach my community with this project, I brought insect-based food & flour to my peers & teachers.
